We first met Jackie when she came to our store in Boxpark. She loved what we were doing and a relationship grew from there. Jackie is a real firecracker, a total self-starter who is living proof that to be a successful entrepreneur you don't need a swanky office and a ton of money, you need passion, a damn good idea and a lot of strong coffee.
Tell us about yourself.
I’m a Canadian-born, London-bred entrepreneur. I’m best known for helping some of the world’s biggest names like the Rolling Stones secure global brand sponsors like Shell and Red Bull. I’m basically the middle man in between these deals, which means I get to spend time all of the world at these events including Sir Richard Branson’s Necker Island.
My story is a bit ‘bedroom to boardroom’ having started my agency Slingshot Sponsorship at the young age of 26 in my bedroom in 2010 with only £2k and a laptop – which I sold for millions 6 years later.
I absolutely love a challenge. Anything that takes me out of my comfort zone or anything that people think I can’t do. When I considered setting up my agency, I was told I was too young and didn’t have enough experience by almost everyone. It has honestly been the best thing I’ve ever done and I’m so thankful I didn’t listen to all the naysayers!
What do you like about The Camden Watch Company?
I’m obsessed with businesses – especially those that are unique in terms of their funding model. The Camden Watch Company takes it’s amazing talent and skill and produces two very different revenue models from it, which is rare to find in a business. They know how to capitalise on what makes them unique. This was apparent from the moment I stepped in the shop, but having met the founders, they really know what it means to hone their USP. They also have a unique approach to their marketing and brand ambassadors – I wish more brands were as clever as The Camden Watch Company!
It also helps that their watches are beautifully designed for a great price. It’s an amazing product and filling a huge gap in the retail market. The KPP is my absolute favourite – the small details and the fact that I love the rose gold!
